His Hands for East Africa

We are a child sponsorship program that pairs sponsors, people like you, with children in need in East Africa.  When a child is sponsored for $12.50 to $30 per month through His Hands for East Africa they receive:

  • a school uniform
  • the opportunity to attend school
  • a hot meal each school day (in schools that are able to provide a meal)

His Hands for East Africa works alongside our African partner, Pastor Stephen Bamuleke and his ministry, Shalom Ministries.  The goal of Shalom Ministries is to "glorify God and demonstrate His love and compassion for all people in East and Central Africa through the ministry of the Gospel and holistic transformational programs".  This is done to fulfill our goal as a ministry, which is:

"to support and encourage the work of our brothers and sisters in Christ on the continent of Africa and to support the ministries of their churches, giving special emphasis to helping with the ministries of their schools and in supporting children to enable them to attend school. We strive to demonstrate the love of Christ through works of service to these churches as well as to other Christian missions and missionaries on the continent of Africa as we have opportunity – to be God’s “hands and feet” and His servants to His children in East Africa."

100% of your sponsorship payment goes toward the child and meeting these needs - none of it goes toward the administrative expenses of this program here in the United States.

Why Africa? Why should we help?

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?" And the King will answer and say to them, "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to me." Matthew 25:37-40

Years of conflict, instability and insecurity have greatly impacted the Great Lakes region of Africa. War, genocide, AIDS, natural disasters and the inevitable poverty brought on by these things has left many children in traumatic and devastating situations. Many of them have been orphaned. As a result, 1 out of every 5 children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, and 1 out of every 7 children in Uganda, will not live to see their 5th birthday.

The AIDS epidemic has left its deadly mark on the children of East Africa. In each of the 3 countries where His Hands for Africa is working, there are anywhere from half a million to one million adults living with the HIV/AIDS virus and the number of orphans due to the AIDS virus ranges from 220,000 to 1,000,000! One fourth of the children in these 3 countries also show signs of moderate to severe malnutrition.

His Hands for Africa was founded in 2007, when a partnership was formed between His Hands Support Ministries and Shalom Ministries in East Africa. Shalom Ministries was founded by Pastor Stephen Bamuleke and its stated purpose is to "glorify God and demonstrate His love and compassion for all people in East and Central Africa through the ministry of the Gospel and holistic transformational programs". Then in 2022, another partnership was formed with Tender Mercy Church Ministries, which is also in Uganda. There are currently over 100 children from 5 different communities in the countries of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo who are in the His Hands for Africa Child Sponsorship Program. For a small payment ranging from $12.50 to $30 per month, you can send a child to school and help change their life!
