His Hands for Belize

We are a sponsorship program that pairs sponsors, people like you, with children and widows in need in Belize.  When a child or widow is sponsored for $15, $25, or $30 per month through His Hands for Belize they receive:

Children:

  • school fees
  • uniform
  • books and supplies
  • test fees

Widows:

  • monthly food distribution

His Hands for Belize works alongside our Belizean partner, Sherlene Bainton, and her ministry - Gifts of Hope - which is part of her church; Kingdom Life Community. Gifts of Hope is a three-part ministry that focuses on assisting single mothers with the needs of their children, along with a feeding program and counseling for marriages and families. His Hands for Belize's participation in this work is done to fulfill our goal as a ministry, which is:

"to support and encourage the work of our brothers and sisters in Christ in the country of Belize and to support the ministries of their churches, giving special emphasis to helping with their widows' and children's ministries and in supporting children to enable them to attend school. We strive to demonstrate the love of Christ through works of service to these churches as well as to other Christian missions and missionaries in the country of Belize as we have opportunity - to be God's "hands and feet" and His servants to His children in Belize."

100% of your sponsorship payment goes to the widow or child in need, none of it goes toward the administrative expenses of this program here in the United States.

Why Belize? Why should we help?

Forty-two percent of the population of Belize is living in poverty while sixteen percent of the population is living in extreme poverty.  However, fifty percent of Belizean children under age fifteen are classified as poor.  Those under eighteen years old who are considered multi-dimensionally poor number fifty-eight percent! While education in Belize is compulsory for children ages 6 - 14, there remains a large number of students who enroll and then drop out due to financial constraints. Of those who remain, many are far below their grade level due to absences and poor performance which can be attributed to living in impoverished conditions. Those students living in rural areas are often forced to drop out so they can work in the fields and help provide for their families.

His Hands for Belize was formed in 2021 when a partnership was formed between His Hands Support Ministries and Sherlene Bainton of Gifts of Hope, along with Kingdom Life Community and its pastors, Jimmi and Sandra Lee Jones. The goal of this partnership is to help bring hope to the widows and children of Belize through sponsorship. Gifts of Hope Belize is bringing hope to their community of Ladyville by helping single mothers with additional income from making and selling crafts. Sherlene Bainton works with the mothers providing training to make the items as well as a commission when they sell items made by others. Gifts of Hope also assists the mothers with the costs of their children’s education. The mothers are given love, encouragement, and counseling through the ministry of Gifts of Hope and their children receive assistance to continue to pursue their education. Gifts of Hope also provides regular food staples and other household supplies to older widows.
