His Hands for Tanzania

His Hands for Tanzania serves our partner in Tanzania, Jerry Backus.  Jerry is the director and founder of Falco's Children's Village in Karatu, Tanzania.  His goal is to provide for orphaned children in an enriching, family-style village environment. They will nurture, encourage and equip the children to take care of themselves and be the future leaders of Tanzania by the time they are old enough to leave the village.  Serving alongside of our partner is done to fulfill our goal as a ministry, which is:

"to support and encourage the work of our brothers and sisters in Christ in the country of Tanzania and to support their outreach ministries, giving special emphasis to their orphanages and in supporting orphans and other vulnerable children to enable them to attend school. We strive to demonstrate the love of Christ through works of service to these ministries as well as to other Christian missions and missionaries in the country of Tanzania as we have opportunity - to be God's "hands and feet” and His servants to His children in Tanzania."

100% of your sponsorship payment goes toward meeting the needs of the children - none of it goes toward the administrative expenses of this program here in the United States.

Why Tanzania? Why should we help?

“Stand up for the poor and the orphan; advocate for the rights of the afflicted and those in need."  Psalm 82:3

Tanzania statistics

Infant mortality is high in Tanzania and the majority of child deaths are caused by malnutrition, malaria, pneumonia, and HIV/AIDS. The number of child-headed households is increasing in Tanzania due to the high percentage of HIV/AIDS infection in the population.  There are an estimated 1,300,000 orphans in Tanzania due to this deadly disease.  Orphans are often neglected, abused, discriminated against, and can end up being trafficked or given to someone to serve as a servant in their household. Thirty-five percent of the population in Tanzania is chronically under-nourished and that percentage is even higher in rural areas.  Poverty is a wide-spread problem so it is not uncommon for infants or young children to be abandoned on the side of the road and many children are forced to work to help provide for their family rather than attend school.

History of His Hands for Tanzania

His Hands for Tanzania was founded in January of 2019 when a partnership was formed with Falco's Children's Village and its founder, Jerry Backus.  Jerry and his late wife, Tammy, founded Falco's Children's Village as a way to provide a loving, nurturing environment for orphaned and abandoned children and to help them grow into productive adults who love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.  His Hands Support ministries enhances the ministry of Jerry Backus and Falco's Children's Village by providing opportunities to share the love of Jesus through his loving care and concern for the children in the village.
