At least 21 million people in Indonesia live on less than $1 per day. 87 million children and adults struggle to get enough food and 1 in 3 children under the age of 5 suffer from stunting as a result of inadequate nutrition. 1 in 5 children who start primary school do not complete the 5th grade and access to education in more remote areas of the country is difficult or unavailable. 4.4 million children in Indonesia are orphans or have lost one parent. As a result of these statistics and many others, 4% of Indonesia’s children will not live to see their 5th birthday.
His Hands for Indonesia has established a sponsorship program through which you can sponsor an orphan or vulnerable child in Indonesia to help pay their living expenses and to help them attend school. $35.00 per month will help pay for the living expenses of an Indonesian orphan (Home Sponsorship) and another $35.00 per month will help pay for them to attend school (School Sponsorship). $35.00 per month will provide them with food, clothing, shelter and medical expenses and another $35.00 per month will provide them with a uniform, educational materials and school fees. The opportunity to attend school can be life-changing for these children!
Sponsors receive a photo and personal information about the child they are helping including information about how to correspond with their child, if they choose to do so. Sponsors can choose the age and/or gender of the child they would like to sponsor and may continue to sponsor the same child from year to year, as long as the child remains in the program. 100% of the sponsorship payment goes directly to Indonesia. None of it is used to cover the administrative expenses of this program here in the US.
Sponsoring a child in Indonesia is truly a blessing not only to the child, but to the sponsor as well. If you would like information about how you can sponsor an Indonesian child, please contact us.
