His Hands for Swaziland works alongside our Swaziland partner, Thabsile Thwala, the director of The Fortress in Manzini, Swaziland. Thabsile and her associates at The Fortress share the love of Jesus with those who need their help and look for opportunities to help vulnerable children.  Our partnership with The Fortress fulfills our goal as a ministry, which is:

" to support and encourage the work of our brothers and sisters in Christ in the country of Swaziland and to support their outreach ministries, giving special emphasis to their orphanages and in supporting orphans and other vulnerable children to enable them to attend school. We strive to demonstrate the love of Christ through works of service to these ministries as well as to other Christian missions and missionaries in the country of Swaziland as we have opportunity - to be God's "hands and feet” and His servants to His children in Swaziland."

100% of your sponsorship payment goes toward meeting the needs of the children - none of it goes toward the administrative expenses of this program here in the United States.

Why Swaziland? Why should we help?

Swaziland statistics

Swaziland has the highest AIDS rate in the world. An estimated 220,000 people are living with HIV/AIDS out of a total population of approximately 1.4 million people. The average life expectancy is only 52 years. It is a country where physical and sexual abuse of women and children is rampant. It is estimated that 10%-15% of the population are orphans and vulnerable children with 1 in 10 households being child-headed. As a result of these statistics and many others, 1 out of every 7 children in Swaziland will not live to see their 5th birthday.

The Fortress

The Fortress is a place of refuge for those in Manzini, Swaziland. It is a registered Faith Based organization, directed by Thabsile Thwala, which seeks to alleviate suffering, poverty, and injustice in Swaziland. The Fortress has been a light in the darkness, teaching the truths of the Word of God to facilitate healing and provide deliverance. Some of the programs provided at The Fortress include a counseling center, the Children’s Home orphanage, and a Christian based school program called Reach For Life. They also help support the Ebenezer and the Ngcina Feeding Stations.

His Hands for Swaziland

His Hands for Swaziland was founded in 2010 when a partnership was formed between His Hands Support Ministries and The Fortress, facilitated by believers from Presque Isle Wesleyan Church in Presque Isle, Maine. For a small monthly payment of $30, you can help an orphaned child at The Fortress with their living expenses or with their school fees and help change their life!

In 2017, Thabsile Thwala asked His Hands for Swaziland to add two feeding stations to the program. These Feeding Stations provide food and academic support to vulnerable children living in severely poverty-stricken rural areas.  A monthly donation of $20.00 will help a preschool child at one of these feeding stations to receive one meal a a day, and educational support through a preschool program. A  donation of $20 a month for a school-age child will provide educational support, school uniforms, and miscellaneous school fees.
